Opening day 2003-2004...

Woke up to a "bluebird" day! I went outside and heard the guns blaring from my ski house(Good thing!).

Jumped into the car and headed to an surprisingly uncrowded parking lot. Walked up to the Quad around 8:20 and there was maybe 5 people there waiting.

I waited with my friends Norman and Papa Smurf for what turned out to be the second chair up. The Quad opened at 9:AM and off we went to start the season.

It was a typical opening day with Hellgate to Broadway to Kennedy. The coverage was great! Wall to wall snow. Hellgate got bumpy quickly but from "5 Fingers" down was all manmade POW. I carved big powder turns under the guns while Norm figure eighted my tracks. We did a few nonstop - top to bottom - runs. After that we forced ourselves to stop and rest from time to time. As more people started coming out I slowed it down a bit but it was fun while it lasted!

Sunday was a great day as well. The snow had setup a bit and the bumps were forming into some great lines for the skiers. Someone built a nice kicker on Kennedy off to the left of the trail. Things were getting a little scraped off but still really nice.

Thanks again to Hunter for making some great snow!
